Individual Rights vs the "Public Good"

Kathleen Parker's apologist diatribe in defense of Bill Clinton (3/18/98) is without a doubt one of the most blasphemous, abominable pieces of filth I have ever seen disgrace the pages of the [Columbus] Dispatch. Taking the Supreme Court to task for the current state of immorality in this country is sheer lunacy, but what really riled my anger was her assertion that "the public good outweighs individual right." That belief is the very foundation of every Marxist regime that has ever befouled the face of the earth. One assumes Parker holds the high court responsible for our "culture of vulgarity" because the court has chosen to uphold the Constitution and not infringe on the individual right to free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment. Never mind that without that very same right, Ms. Parker would not be able to grace us all with her self-righteous, altruistic rantings.

Parker states that all of these legal goings-on in Washington are distracting the president from his duties. I am sure he was able to maintain the full focus of his attention on his duties while he was sneaking around with Monica Lewinsky or propositioning Paula Jones. Parker thinks we should overlook vile corruption in the highest office in the land because it is "for the public good." In other words, we should just go along with all of the lies and cover-ups and pretend like everything is peachy, just so the president is not embarrassed or "rendered ineffective." Clinton needs no help in these areas.

Unlike Parker, I have no "misunderstanding of the equal application of justice." Bill Clinton IS just like the rest of us. Being president does not make him above the law, regardless of what he or Hillary or Kathleen Parker may think. If active military personnel can be held accountable for their "personal" actions, so can their commander-in-chief. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
