This Week:
World Court meddling in internal US affairs
On Friday, April 10, the Dispatch carried an AP article stating that the
World Court, the "UN's highest judicial body, which has no enforcement
powers," [yet] has demanded a stay of execution in a Virginia case. The
case involves Angel Francisco Breard, a murderer convicted in the 1992
slaying and attempted rape of a Virginia woman. Mr. Breard hails from
the country of Paraguay, which appealed to the World Court because they
say the US did not inform Mr. Breard of his right to assistance from
Paraguayan consuls.
If he got a trial in America, he got a fair trial by jury. We are not
[again, yet] some thirld world hole where you are guilty until
proven
innocent, and we don't need the rest of the world telling us how to run
our judicial system.
I say, as always, fry him. We need to send a message to the world: If
you come to America to commit crime, you will have to pay for it. If
your crime is vile enough, you will have to answer with your life. We
are not going to house the world's criminals for life (or worse, let
them go free) just because a bunch of Leftists in The Hague don't like
the way we do things.
Eventually, the World Court will have enforcement power. The
question is, how and who will enforce their meddling in the business of
the individual states and of these United States?
