Over the years of researching my Aylor's of Boone Co, KY, I have frequently run across an AYLER family in Carroll County, which is just right down the river from Boone. I couldn't help but wonder if some far-removed cousin settled his family down that way and over time the spelling of their last name changed.

Recently, I decided to delve into that family's lines a little to see what I could find out. The net result is, they are descended from Andrew Ayler/Ailer, (probably Andreas Oehler) who was born in Baden, Germany in 1820 and immigrated to the United States in 1840. They settled in Cincinnati and eventually made their way downriver to Jefferson County, Indiana, right outside of Madison, and their neighboring community of Carrollton, just across the river in Kentucky.

My research on this line is fairly well documented, but there is always room for error. If you find anything out of place, or just plain wrong, please let me know and I'll update it. I am no longer actively researching this line, but I am always interested in updates.
