ELIZABETH KNIPE NORRIS was born in Harrison Co., Ohio, June 20, 1832 and died in Table Rock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Covault on February 24, 1914 at the ripe age of 81 years, 8 mos and 4 days. In 1847 she went with her uncle to Union Co Ohio where three years later she was married to John M. Aylor. In 1852 she and her husband moved to Van Buren Co., Iowa where they lived for 35 years and reared their family. To this union were born eleven children six boys and five girls, two of the boys dying in infancy. The family moved to Neb., in 1887, where they have resided ever since, the last 14 years they lived in Table Rock and during the last five years they spent the winters with their children. She had been usually rugged until about a week ago. Last Saturday all realized that the end was near. During the last three days she was conscious most of the time. She was tenderly cared for by her children but in spite of all that love and medical science could do she departed from this life last Tuesday at 4 a.m. All of the children were at the bedside but the oldest son. In 1869 she united with the Baptist church and has ever been true to her faith in Christ Jesus. After coming to Table Rock and wishing a church home she united with the Christian church. On account of her age she had been unable to attend services but nevertheless has been interested in the masters work. Last Sunday she said her soul was at peace but that she hoped all her children would meet her in heaven. She leaves her aged husband who has lost a faithful companion and nine children who mourn a loving mother and forty four grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren who cherish her memory. The children are as follows Mrs. John Covault; Cass Davis, Del Mort; M.H. Irwin and Mr. John Aylor of Table Rock; Mrs. Thomas McIntosh and Norris Aylor of Humboldt; Will Aylor of Napier, Mo and Henry Aylor of Van Buren Co, Iowa. The funeral was held Thursday morning at the Christian church. Alden Lee Hill was the officiating clergyman. A great concourse of friends and neighbors accompanied the relatives to the city cemetery where the mother and grandmother was tenderly laid to rest.
