The following is from a book titled "Biographical Sketches" published by McDowell Publishers of Utah. It is in the KY section of the Ohio State Library in Columbus.

EUGENE S. RICE, M.D., was born in Boone County, Ky., April 9, 1857, the only child born to William B. and Mary A. (Cornelious) Rice. William B. Rice was born in Boone County, and was a son of Richard Rice, one of the pioneers of Kentucky. William B. Rice was brought up on the farm, but followed stock trading very extensively all his life. Mary A. Cornelious, his wife, was born in Kenton County. Our subject was brought up on the farm, and received his education at Eminence, Ky. In 1876 he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. Orin E. Newton, of Cincinnati, and graduated in medicine from the New York Eclectic Medicinal College in 1879. He then located at Independence, in Kenton County, Ky., and practiced his profession until 1882, and in 1883, he moved to Florence, where he has been actively engaged in the practice of medicine ever since. Mr. Rice is not married. He is a member of the I.O.O.F. and is a Republican.

The following is from a book titled "Biographical Sketches" published by McDowell Publishers of Utah. It is in the KY section of the Ohio State Library in Columbus.

COLUMBUS T. RICE was born near Union, Boone Co., Ky., January 10, 1826, and is the second of a family of five children, born to Edward and Annie (Utz) Rice. Edward Rice was born in Woodford County, Ky., June 15, 1795, and was a son of Benjamin Rice, who emigrated from Virginia to Kentucky at an early date, settled in Woodford County, and afterward moved to what is now Kenton County, where he lived and died. Edward Rice was a farmer and followed the same all his life. He was in the War of 1812, and died November 21, 1878. His wife Annie Utz was born in Virginia, near Fredricksburg, December 17, 1805; she came to Kentucky with her parents when quite small, and was married about 1819. Columbus T. Rice was brought up on the farm, and received his education at the common schools. He has followed farming all his life. May 14, 1850, he was married to Sallie A. Norman, a daughter of Benjamin and Margaret (Conner) Norman, of Boone County. To this union two children have been born, viz.: Benjamin L., born March 2, 1851; Mary A., born November 16, 1858. Mr. Rice is a member of the Baptist Church. Politically he was formerly a Whig, but is now a Democrat.
